Sew-In Weaves Can Be Worn For More Than 6 Weeks!

Contrary to popular belief, sew-in weaves can be worn for more than 6 weaves.  And you can save all of your new growth at the roots without damaging and breaking your hair.  The key is knowing how to properly detangle your hair.

Conditioners can not detangle very tangled matted…

My Big Chop Experience

The Big Chop

So I finally plucked up the courage for the #BigChop, and the day is here at last. It’s 5.30am on Saturday the 8th of March, I’m wide awake, staring up at the ceiling wondering how I’ll look once it’s over!  I had spent months reading up on other people’s experiences and weighing up the pros and cons of having the big chop. Thanks to Georgina Fihosy of  …

Update of my "Natural"

Hope all have been well. I haven't popped in for some time. Here's an update. I kept cutting and re-cutting my hair off. Why? Because I loved the no hair look. But since, Nov. 2013 I've stopped cutting--still natural though.…

Hey ladies,

I was wondering if there are any naturals out there who are experimenting with henna color?  I am very interested in using a natural dye in my fro, but I would like to get some suggestions please!  I have used a liquid henna once and was pretty please with the outcome, however, I have read that the powder has much more benefits.  I have actually purchased…

Information Overload: The Silicone Nightmare

Okay guys I am so confused. So up until recently, I have been avoiding all silicones because I read a bunch of stuff about how they are terrible for your hair. But I found that just co-washing my hair with my As I Am cowash left my hair feeling kinda dry. So I picked up some Aussie Moist conditioner and my hair felt and looked soooooo much better. The Aussie Moist conditioner has a water soluble silicone in it so I figured it wasn't tooo bad. Anyway, one of my friends was telling me how much…

Fitness and Natural Hair Upkeep...HELP????

I recently gave birth to my little one on October 8th, 2013. I have lost 30 of the 40 lbs I gained through diet and exercise as of today.Since he was born I have always worn a u-part wig during exercise. It wasn't an issue at all. I maintained my natural hair underneath by washing and keeping my scalp moisturized. Now that I am fully natural and no longer wearing my u-part wigs, I need a little advice on how to maintain my natural hair so that it doesn't break off. I have been washing my…

Hairstyle on my TWA: Twist Out (Fro)

Hi Lovelies!
One of my goals this year is to experiment with hairstyles with my natural hair. I've already done finger coils. Next up was a twist out! To rock a twist out you have to begin with twisting your hair and leave the twists in overnight (or longer) for them to set properly.…

Faux Locs: Using Kinky/Marley Hair vs. Yarn

Hey dolls. I thought I'd make a post on Faux locs as a protective hair style as well as the difference between using kinky/marley hair or yarn locs to achieve them. I tend to switch up my hairstyles frequently, it's a bad habit of mine but all is fair when you know how to do your own hair :) !…
