Would You Perm You Hair Because Your Man Wanted You To??

I'm on youtube a lot and I see a lot of women and teens talking about how their men [and boyfriends] want them to perm their hair and sometimes it gets to a point of if you don't then I'm going to leave you.. I havent had that situation happen to me however what would you do if you were married or in a relationship, decided you wanted to go natural and after all the things you have been through he wants to leave you over some curly hair?

Is it worth perming your hair, making a compromise, or just throwing it all away. Why or why not?

 

Personally depending on how long I was with him I would be torn, but at the sometime I feel like if he loves me he should love me for me. However we all know that their are things that we as people just don't find attractive, and with men it can be hair. Believe it or not I know men that won't date women if they have a perm or if they don't... it goes both ways.

I don't think any woman/girl should just because he said so. If its for reason like its causing you stress etc then I'd understand. But I think we go thru to much to be natural to just give it up lol. Just my opinion.

this is simple. HELL NO. i have been lucky my s/o loved my hair straight and loves it even more during transition. what you don't appreciate it SOMEONE ELSE WILL!

LOL @ Meshia...I agree...I'm one of the fortunate ones...it was my fiancée that was my biggest cheerleader to go natural...so no, I wouldn't get a perm for anyone, especially a man!

Hey! Your name is Meshia. Is it pronounced Me-Shae? And I agree. I've been natural since I've known my boyfriend, and he one day, he was randomly like "I like your little curls." We're both natural (okay, most men are natural, but my boyfriend specifically has locs.), and I think it's cute. Heck, even his mom and sister are loc'd. :D My mom is natural and she's still married. And my little sister is natural. :)

OMG I swear I said the same exact thing! With a little more added curse words of course lol I feel like if you can't accept me with natural hair, then you can't accept me at all. My hair is a part of me, regardless of how it's styled, you shouldn't be with me for my physical appearance as the ultimate standard for being with me.

That's some nerve. How can a boyfriend have the nerve to ask a woman to perm her hair or he leaves? It should be just as rude telling a woman she must get a boob job or he'll leave her. It's disrespectful and harmful--there's no love in a plea like that.

Hmm, that seems difficult particular in a marriage as I am more committed to my marriage (and to me that includes answering to God for how I view that vow) than to my hair-so I would want to try to seek a compromise explaining that this is me this is how my hair comes out of my scalp and that God wanted us to have variety-my compromise could be that sometimes I will wear it straight even though that risks harming my curl pattern lol.

I agree with you because in the Word it talks about submitting and when he says do something as long as it doesn't allow you to sin then he must do it. Alot of ppl don't like that but its bible. So no where I know of where perming hair is a sin so hey i must listen to the Lord and obey my husband and get that perm Or argue that's its tampering with the temple (my body) with chemicals then that might be my way out...lol!!
